By the Tang Dynasty, the development of ink painting had reached its peak, with numerous painting artists emerging. Wu Daozi, Wang Wei, and others made breakthroughs in painting techniques and theories. Wu Daozi explored new forms of expression for the brushwork techniques in ink painting with his unique brushwork, which was later praised as "Wu Dai Dangfeng". Wang Wei, on the other hand, stated in his book "The Secret to Painting Mountains and Rivers" that "in the art of painting, ink and wash are the top priority, reflecting the nature of nature and the achievement of creation." He affirmed the position of ink and wash painting in Chinese painting and conducted in-depth exploration on the basis of previous studies, expressing color changes in shades of ink, so that black, white, and gray can express the level of the painting purely and effectively, and developed and improved the techniques of ink and wash painting.
